SWACHHATA HI SEVA
Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) campaign is celebrated during 15th September to 2nd October every year for undertaking shramdaan activities aiming to generate jan andolan through community participation; to provide impetus on implementation of SBMG Phase-II; to disseminate the importance of a Sampoorn Swachh village; to reinforce the concept of Sanitation as everyone’s business; and to commemorate Swachh Bharat Diwas (2nd October) with nationwide participation. This year, Statewide Campaign is being launched on visual cleanliness of villages during "Swachhata Hi Seva" (SHS) to clean up the garbage/waste dumped around in the villages from 15th September to 2nd October, 2022. The focus of this year's Swachhata Hi Seva is towards managing the legacy waste at garbage vulnerable sites in the villages. The following activities are being encouraged during SHS 2022:-
- Visual cleanliness in villages.
- Cleaning of garbage vulnerable sites in the villages.
- Community awareness for segregation of waste (dry and wet) at source.
- Construction of waste collection & segregation sheds/centres.
- Purchasing waste collection vehicle like tricycle/E-cart (Battery Operated Vehicle) through GeM.
- Door to door collection of non-biodegradable waste like plastics.
- Keeping the areas near water bodies clean and doing tree plantation around them.
- Generate awareness about the ill effects of Single Use Plastics (SUP) by organizing Gram Sabha meetings and passing resolutions for ban on SUPs'.
- Sarpanch Samvads on ODF plus elements, and
- Slogan writing/pledge taking for "No Littering".
